Good Afternon, Church! Still reading through the New Testament with me? If you haven't been, start today at 1 Corinthians chapter 2. We'll go back and pick up what you missed again later in the year.
"For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Cor.2:16
This passage goes with Romans 12:2...that we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Once you become a Christian, and the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of us, we have the ability to "download" the Word Of God" into our minds so that we can think the right thoughts, and as a result produce the right actions which are pleasing to God. Would you buy a new computer and not download anything on it? Of course not! If you found that someone had downloaded all kinds of objectionable material onto your new computer before you got it, what would you do? You would certainly delete the previously downloaded objectionable material, then load the material you need.
This is exactly what the Holy Spirit is trying to get us to do. When we made a decision to follow Christ, we were given the mind of Christ! What's in that new mind we've been given? Whatever you put into it! Renewing your mind, changing the way you think with the Word Of God is THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTION OF A CHRISTIAN when it comes to leading a successful life that is pleasing to God.
Our assignment today is to consciously replace at least one objectionable thought or way of thinking with the correct thought from your Bible. It could be about your marriage, finances, your kids, your health, or even about you! If you'll do this, you'll take a major step toward becoming who you were always meant to be. Remember..."As a man thinks in his heart, so is he!"
Yes, we're still reading with you, Pastor Steve! It's amazing to me how something I've read in the morning is just what I need to apply later that day - or something someone else needs that I can share with them - almost every single day this year!! God is so good.
