I got this question on facebook, and thought you might be interested in the answer!
What is a good answer for a 10 year old when they ask who created God and how did God get here? They can't seem to grasp that HE was here in the beginning.
Wow............well even as adults there's a lot that we can't comprehend about God, so I think that "infinity" is going to be hard to explain! The truth is that God has always been, and neither did anyone nor anything create Him. (John1:1-4) That will be impossible to actually explain to anyone no matter what age they are. They will have to begin now to realize that God is a spirit being in another dimension that our finite minds cannot understand, and then they will need to grapple with that until they can accept it. The foundation that they will need in order to complete this way of thinking is, at as early an age as possible, to understand that the Bible is true, and is really the Word Of God. I have a series in the bookstore called, "You Can Trust the Bible", which explains all of that. With this foundation, the important thing becomes believing what the Bible says, rather than what we actually understand.
I commented on your fb post before seeing this. Good question and answer. I can't remember as a kid ever thinking about who created God but I sure can see why a child would ask that question. Thanks for sharing.
